Gas Price Question: Are you driving more now that gas prices have come down?
O4D asked:
I question why have the prices of gas has fallen around the holidays. Is there something in the air that thinks we will drive more because gas is cheaper, to spend money we don’t have? I feel we all have to take some responsibility for the condition our economy is in. And if lower gas prices are just a holiday fix, we might want do some rethinking.

Gas prices are lower because economies across the world are tanking. The drop in productivity means a drop in the demand for oil, which means a drop in the price in gas. The speculators that drove up the price of oil so high are whistling a much different tune these days.

I am driving like it was still 4 dollars a gallon as a national avergae. Reason is,, if you start driving more oil companies will raise the price to get more money as they see an increase in demand. The less the demand, the more the price falls.

Actually these prices are low for a reason. The price of oil is so low taht the prices should be lower. These prices will actually continue to drop, but people aren’t driving as much still because they don’t have the money to do so.

I’m not driving more because i don’t drive. I take the subway.
I wish there was more accessible public transportation everywhere, then it would be easy for people not to drive and not pollute, cause traffic, and waste money on gas.

nope..when gas prices shot up I installed GPS units in all of my work vehicles so that we would save money by reducing drive time, don’t see any logic in reversing that.

I am driving less and will continue because I can’t afford all the other high amounts for medical, food and any thing that I need.

Probably, but I think a lot people may still accustomed to drive less for the condition of the economy while income recovers.

No, I’m not. I rode my bike to work in the summer time. But it’s snowing here now. So I am car pooling with my employees. I drive less now, that the prices have come down, then I did before. Just doing my part.
