Is it better or cheaper to book a trip through a travel agent?

I’m going out of the country for the first time (yes, I have a passport) and was wondering should I go through a travel agent or just get the ticket online? Which is a better deal? Or does it matter?
I’m really just wondering about flight info, I don’t need a car or hotel because that’s already taken care of and seeing that the trip is 2 months away, should I wait for the travel agent to find a cheaper ticket or just buy it myself now because I can only assume that it’ll go up right?

I use a travel agent. When I know I am going somewhere, I let them know in advance. They start looking for the cheapest tickets, and call me when they find them. They also can give you deals on vehicles alot cheaper than on line along with your tickets. I have booked on line myself and did not save as much money.

I do it all myself online. There are several sites that can find and compare fares for you- check out for one. Other sites are and. Some of these sites also can notify you of price changes. If you want any help looking online yourself, just send me an email. I have planned multi-city international flights without any problems, all on my own.

I would check online sites such as expedia, orbitz, travelocity and write down all the rates. Then call your travel agent and have him/her give you their best rate and whichever one is cheapest and has best flight times etc I would then go ahead and book. Check out all your options first.

book your ticket now. if i’m going out of the country I usually book a ticket MONTHS in advance. doing it yourself will be A LOT cheaper.

you can do comparison shopping online for airline tickets too ya know. just like they said, expedia, orbitz, kayak, etc. there’s this site that lets you compare fares from all these site at once to make sure you’re getting the cheapest price.
